Hokkaidō 北海道, literally “Northern Sea Circuit”, formerly known as Ezo, Yezo, Yeso, or Yesso, is Japan’s second largest and northernmost of the four main islands. Sapporo 札幌市is the capital city where 2 million of the island’s 5.5 million population reside.

This time I arrived at Tomakomai 苫小牧市 East Port from Niigata 新潟市. The wind caused me to head north rather than go east as I first intended. This meant Nosappu Misaki 納沙布岬 (east) rather than Sōya Misaki 宗谷岬 (north) was the end of the ride to the Four Corners of Japan.
